Septic Inspection

Excavation Included. Visual Assessment. Septic System Flow Testing. Invasive & Thorough.

Thorough & Invasive Septic System Inspection

A septic inspection is a comprehensive evaluation designed to assess the condition and functionality of a septic system. If access is unobstructed, our third-party contractor will expose and unbury the septic tank cover and the distribution box cover, if present. The cost for this service is by $500 if the covers are already exposed and easily accessible.

During the inspection, if excavation is necessary, we will return the ground to “rough” grade after the inspection is complete. The covers will be opened to visually evaluate the tank and the distribution box, if applicable. We will check the system for any odors or leaks, and assess the sludge and scum levels to determine the tank’s health.

Additionally, we will inspect the visible portions of the baffles and effluent filter. A critical part of the inspection involves flushing dye and hundreds of gallons of water into the system to check for failures and leaks, ensuring proper flow throughout the system.

We will also evaluate the drain field for signs of failure, which can indicate issues that need immediate attention. Lastly, any alarms, floats, or pumps associated with the septic system will be evaluated and tested to ensure they function correctly.

This thorough inspection process helps identify any necessary repairs or maintenance, ensuring the septic system operates efficiently and safely. Whether you’re buying a new property or maintaining your current home, a septic inspection is a vital step in protecting your investment.

Third-Party Vendor

This service we offer is done through a third-party contractor. Our vendor doesn't cover all of Indiana like we do, so this service is limited to certain localities. For more information, please contact us.

Understanding Septic Systems

Septic systems are hidden underground, making it impossible to fully assess their condition without invasive inspections. This inspection includes excavation and some invasive assessment methods; however, we do not excavate or expose the entire tank or drain field. Doing so will cost significantly more.
